Quick Review: iPod Touch 8GB

View Comments

Dammit, I couldn't take it anymore. I'm so fucked up inside my mind about not being in a comfortable place to write that I have decided I won't write at all. At least not about celebrities, gadgets, and all-around tech news. I'm still here in an Internet cafe at Isetann Recto but I'm not planning on leaving any time soon. I still want to write, and write I will, about my new 8GB iPod Touch.

I know you've probably already read this a thousand times, but the iPod Touch is really a great device to own. Just the look of it is enough to inspire envy and admiration from onlookers who would happen to see you pass by. But of course, if you're familiar with Apple products, it's not just about the looks. This thing is so feature-packed that it's safe to say Nokia, Sony Ericsson, or any other electronics manufacturer will ever catch up to it - ever. I'm not a fanboy, I'm just saying this from the heart. The iPod Touch is the best portable media player in the world. Period, locked up and threw away the key.

I am absolutely not pulling your leg. Read on if you want to know more about Apple's best PMP yet.

It starts with the looks. The Apple iPod Touch is made of tempered glass at the front, very shiny aluminum at the back. and smooth black plastic around it's 8mm thin edges. For a device its size, it's surprisingly heavy. It's a joy to hold in one hand, although you have to watch out for it falling because the metallic back side isn't the most sticky thing in the world. Overall, the design makes me salivate.

And then other than that, it's got a terrific new feature called CoverFlow (which shows your music filed horizontally against a clear black background. You can flick through the whole thing and see your albums flow by one by one. Apple really made sure to take advantage of multi-touch technology on this one.

I haven't even mentioned the fact that it's a very capable Internet device. I've surfed web sites on it that loaded faster than when I surfed them with regular desktop PCs. The iPod Touch, as Kanye West would say, is entirely "the shit." I'm not regretting choosing this over a desktop, which are soon going to go the way of the dodo anyway. If you're planning on buying a new iPod Touch, keep it here for fresh tips and tricks. I'll try to update a list of those daily. Till then, go away and read some other useless blogs according to your own preference. Go, now!
